Ferron On Mountain Stage Listen Now: Ferron On Mountain Stage NPR.org, November 26, 2008 - Canadian-born folk singer Ferron issued her 14th release in 2008, titled Boulder. A collection of revisited songs, the album was recorded and produced by indie-rock violinist Bitch, who accompanies Ferron in this live performance on Mountain Stage. The set begins with the autobiographical tune "Girl on a Road," about Ferron leaving home at the age of 15 to start a career of rambling and writing. The re-recorded version of the song, included on Boulder, features Ferron-influenced artists Ani DiFranco and Sam Barton (of The Be Good Tanyas) on background vocals. When scheduled guest Todd Snider was forced to cancel due to illness, Ferron, who was in NYC to play at Joe's Pub the previous night, stepped in to replace him. After a few minutes of backstage rehearsal, Ferron enlisted Mountain Stage band members Ammed Solomon on drums, Ron Sowell on acoustic guitar, Michael Lipton on electric guitar and bassist Steve Hill. |
